If you're moving to Hayden, Idaho and dreaming about pine trees, custom homes, quiet streets and a little breathing room, you don't necessarily need to buy five acres outside of town to get it.
These are four Hayden neighborhoods I'd watch like a hawk if I wanted that established, wooded North Idaho feel while still being close to groceries, restaurants, schools, Hayden Lake and Coeur d'Alene.
Forest Ridge Estates is one of my favorites for buyers looking for that quintessential North Idaho setting. You'll find custom homes, mature trees, larger lots and a more private feel than many newer subdivisions.
It's a great place to start if you want trees and space without giving up everyday convenience.
Another neighborhood worth watching is Forest Hills. It has the established, wooded atmosphere many relocating buyers picture when they first start looking at homes in Hayden.
Homes here tend to have more individuality than you'll find in a typical production-built neighborhood, which is a big part of the appeal.
Fox Hollow is another one I'd keep on the radar for buyers who want an established neighborhood with trees, attractive homes and a quieter residential setting.
It's a good middle ground between subdivision living and buying a rural acreage property farther outside town.
If your North Idaho wish list includes custom homes, trees, privacy and larger homesites, don't overlook Rimrock Estates.
The Rimrock area is especially appealing if you want to feel slightly removed from town while still having Hayden and Coeur d'Alene amenities within easy reach.
It offers another option for buyers drawn to Hayden's established neighborhoods and looking for more character, trees and space than they'll typically find in newer high-density developments.
These neighborhoods don't have a constant stream of homes hitting the market, which is exactly why I'd keep a close eye on them.
And if you're relocating to North Idaho, don't choose a neighborhood based solely on what looks good on Zillow. Forest Ridge Estates, Forest Hills, Fox Hollow and Rimrock Estates may have a similar overall appeal, but they aren't interchangeable. Lot size, home styles, location, restrictions and proximity to the things you use every day can make one a much better fit than another.
If you're looking for that wooded North Idaho custom-home feel without maintaining acreage, tell me what you're looking for. I can help you narrow down the Hayden neighborhoods that actually fit the way you want to live.
